What Is Health Coaching?
Personalized guidance on lifestyle, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and recovery programs.
Personalized guidance on lifestyle, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and recovery programs.

Health coaching helps clients choose goals, identify barriers, build practical action plans, and review progress. Evidence supports modest improvements in some health behaviors and chronic-disease outcomes, but results vary by program, condition, coach training, and engagement.
A coach may support nutrition, movement, sleep, stress skills, and adherence to a clinician-created plan. Coaching is not medical diagnosis, prescribing, psychotherapy, or emergency care. Qualified coaches use shared decision-making, stay within scope, and refer to licensed clinicians when symptoms, medication questions, eating-disorder risk, or mental-health concerns arise.
Bring recent health goals, medication/supplement list, and any labs or device data (sleep, steps, HRV). Identify 1–2 time windows in your week where small changes are realistic. Come ready to experiment rather than “be told what to do.”
No downtime. Many clients feel clarity and momentum after the first session; habit traction typically builds over 2–6 weeks of consistent practice.
Direct physical risk is low, but harm can occur when a coach exceeds scope, gives restrictive diet or exercise advice without screening, discourages prescribed treatment, or misses red flags. Seek licensed medical or mental-health care for new or worsening symptoms, medication changes, suicidality, eating-disorder concerns, chest pain, severe shortness of breath, neurologic deficits, or other emergencies.
