Superficial cleansing, exfoliation, suction, extraction, and topical-product treatments, including branded hydradermabrasion systems such as HydraFacial®. Benefits are temporary and depend on the exact device and ingredients.

Hydradermabrasion and medical facials combine surface cleansing, exfoliation, suction-assisted debris removal, extraction, and application of topical products. HydraFacial® is a brand; “medical facial” is a marketing term rather than one standardized procedure.
Know every step and ingredient
Acids, enzymes, fragrance, salicylates, retinoids, brighteners, and optional boosters can change irritation and allergy risk. Suction intensity matters for fragile vessels, rosacea, bruising, and recent procedures. Ask for device, tip, products, concentrations when available, and whether tips or fluid pathways are single use or disinfected.
Expected results
Skin may look temporarily smoother or more hydrated after removal of surface scale and application of moisturizers. Evidence for durable collagen remodeling, acne cure, pore shrinkage, lymphatic detoxification, or anti-aging is limited. It does not replace treatment for inflammatory acne, rosacea, dermatitis, suspicious lesions, or scarring.
Infection and barrier safety
Do not treat active infection, open wounds, or significant inflammation. Equipment must be cleaned and maintained according to manufacturer instructions. Products applied after aggressive exfoliation may penetrate more and trigger irritation.
Disclose allergies, aspirin sensitivity, pregnancy, active acne or infection, rosacea, eczema, cold sores, isotretinoin, retinoids or acids, recent waxing, fillers, lasers, peels, or microneedling, and fragile capillaries.
Most people have little downtime. Temporary redness, tightness, dryness, sensitivity, or small breakouts can occur. Stop irritating products and seek review for swelling, hives, blistering, spreading redness, or infection.
Irritation, allergic contact dermatitis, bruising or broken capillaries from suction, acne flare, abrasions, pigment change after excessive inflammation, infection from inadequate equipment hygiene, and expense without durable benefit.
