Ozone and oxygen therapies are not one treatment family in a medical sense. They use different gases, routes, pressures, equipment, and evidence standards. Medical oxygen (O₂) may be delivered at normal pressure or inside a hyperbaric chamber. Ozone (O₃) is a reactive oxidant that is toxic when inhaled.
Oxygen-based methods
Ozone-based methods
Ozone therapy and EBOO are not FDA-approved to treat disease in the U.S. Ozone must not be inhaled or injected directly as gas into a vein. Evidence should be assessed for the exact method and indication—not transferred from HBOT, laboratory ozone research, or generic “oxygenation” claims.
Bring diagnoses, medications, oxygen prescriptions, imaging or wound records, pulmonary history, ear/sinus issues, seizure history, pregnancy status, and anticoagulants. Ask for the exact method and written protocol.
Recovery ranges from none after a light EWOT session to ear pressure and fatigue after HBOT or bruising and lightheadedness after blood procedures. Follow route-specific emergency instructions.
HBOT can cause ear/sinus barotrauma, temporary vision changes, oxygen toxicity, low blood sugar, and fire risk. EWOT adds exercise and combustion hazards. Ozone inhalation injures lungs; blood procedures add infection, bleeding, hemolysis, anticoagulation, air/gas embolism, and line risks.

Frequency
Indication- and method-specific; no universal wellness or longevity schedule exists.
People with a clearly defined indication and appropriate medical screening. Established HBOT indications should be managed through an accredited medical hyperbaric program; elective ozone and wellness oxygen users should understand non-approved uses and evidence limits.
